Almost eight years after the building of the Type 053H series (Jianghu class) frigate stopped, Huangpu Shipyard reopened the construction in the early-1990s to build an additional batch of six Type 053H1G (NATO code-name: Jianghu-V class) frigates, all of which were deployed in the PLA Navy South Sea Fleet as an urgent gap-stopping solution to respond to the increasingly intensive situation in the Taiwan Strait and South China Sea.

Derived from the Type 051H1 (Jianghu-II class), the Type 051H1G/Jianghu-V class has many improvements in term of weapon and electronic systems, including:

The Type 053H1G may have been fitted with a British-made CTC-1629 combat data system (also known as intelligence centre), or its Chinese copy ZKJ-3A. The system has the most basic command and control functions but is fairly primitive and out of date. Other systems include two indigenous optronic directors (for dual-100 mm main gun targeting), radio communications, and satellite communications (SATCOM).
053H1G型可能已经配备有一套英国制造的CTC-1629型战斗数据系统（也即是情报中心），或它的中国仿造ZKJ-3A型。系统具有最基本的指挥和控制功能但是相当原始和过时。其它的系统包括二套本国自行生产的光电指示器（用于双管-100毫米主炮瞄准），无线电通信和卫星通信（SATCOM）。

MISSILES
导弹

The ship's surface-to-surface missile system is the indigenous SY-1A anti-ship missile. The missile system has six launchers (two 3-cell launchers). The missile uses active radar homing and is powered by a liquid rocket engine (with a solid rocket booster). With a max range of 35 km at a speed of 0.8 Mach, the missile is armed with a massive 513 kg warhead.
舰载地对地导弹系统是本国自行研制的SY-1A反舰导弹。导弹系统有六个发射装置（二套3单元发射装置）。导弹使用主动雷达制导和由一台液体火箭发动机提供动力（使用一枚固体火箭助推器）。具有0.8 Mach的速度和最大射程35公里，导弹配备一枚巨大的513公斤弹头。

GUNS
主炮

The ship's main guns installed on the bow and stern deck are the Type 79A dual-100 mm 56 calibre gun which fires 15 kg rounds at a rate of 18 rounds/min. The range of the gun is more than 22 km against surface targets.
舰载主炮安装在舰艏和尾甲板是79A型双管-100毫米56倍口径舰炮，以18发/分钟发射15公斤弹药。主炮的射程对抗水面目标是22公里。

Four Type 76A dual-37 mm anti-aircraft guns fire shells at a rate of 400 rounds/min to a range of 9.4 km for airborne targets.

ANTI-SUBMARINE WARFARE (ASW)
反潜战（ASW）

The ship has two 6-tubed Type 3200 multiple ASW rocket launchers located on the bow deck with 36 rockets. The system can deliver a 34 kg warhead to a range of 1,200 m. 
舰艇有二具6-管3200型多管ASW火箭发射装置使用36枚火箭位于舰艏甲板上。系统能递送一枚34公斤弹头，射程1,200米。

For depth charges (DC), the ship is fitted with four Type 64 DC projectors and two DC racks.

Type 053H1G has an airtight hull design with central air conditioning and collective anti-NBC for operation in the tropic waters

RADAR

The ship's primary air/surface search radars include a Type 360 2D air/surface radar operating at I-band, and a Type 517H-1 Knife Rest 2D long-range air search radar operating at A-Band.
舰载主空中/水面搜索雷达包括一套360型在I-波段操作的2D空中/水面雷达和在A-波段操作的517H-1型“刀架”（Knife Rest）2D远程空中搜索雷达。

The ship has four fire-control radars. One Type 352 Square Tie operating at I-band for surface search and YJ-8 SSM targeting, one Type 343 Wasp Head operating at G/H-band for the dual-100 mm main guns and SSM, and two I-band Type 347G (EFR-1) Rice Lamp radars for use with the dual-37 mm AAA guns.

The ship's electronic warfare suite include a RWD-8 Jug Pair intercept, a Type 923-I radar warning receiver, Type 651A IFF, and two Mk-36RBOC 6-barrel chaff/decoy rocket launchers.
舰艇的电子战组件包括RWD-8“对壶”侦听装置，923-I型雷达告警接收机，651A型IFF和二套Mk-36RBOC 6管箔条/诱骗火箭发射装置。

SONAR

The ship has a SJD-5 medium-frequency hull-mounted sonar installed for active search and attack, a SJC-1B reconnaissance sonar, and a SJX-4 communications sonar.

PROPULSIONS

The Type 053H2G is powered by two 12E390VA diesels rated at 16,000 hp (17.6 kW). Two shafts drive propellers. The propulsion system provides a maximum speed of 26 knots.
