The Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) announced on 2 December that it had conducted the first flight of its shipborne AR-500B vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).

中国航空工业集团有限公司（AVIC）在12月2日宣布，已进行了其舰载AR-500B型垂直起降（VTOL）无人机（UAV）的首次飞行。

 

The company’s China Helicopter Research and Development Institute (CHRDI) said in a statement that a production-ready example was successfully launched and recovered at its test facility in Poyang, northeastern Jiangxi Province, on 27 November.

该公司的中国航空工业直升机设计研究所（CHRDI）在一份声明中表示，已于11月27日在其位于江西省东北部鄱阳市的测试设施中成功启动并回收了一架可投入生产的样机。

According to AVIC, the air vehicle was launched at 1500 h local time and completed several flight test evolutions including stationary hover and manual take-off and landing during its 30-minute flight.

据中航工业公司称，该飞行器在当地时间15：00时启动，并完成了几次飞行测试，包括在30分钟的飞行过程中进行了固定悬停以及手动起飞和着陆。

 

Official specifications released by CHRDI noted that the AR-500B has a maximum take-off weight (MTOW) of 500 kg including a 70 kg payload. Control radius and endurance were quoted as 100 km and up to four hours of operation, with the air vehicle capable of attaining stated cruise and maximum level flight speeds of 120 km/h and 140 km/h, respectively, and a service ceiling of 13,123 ft (4,000 m).

中国航空工业直升机设计研究所（CHRDI）发布的官方规格指出，AR-500B型的最大起飞重量（MTOW）为500公斤，其中包括70公斤有效载荷。控制半径和续航力分别为100公里和运行长达四个小时，该飞行器能够分别达到规定的120公里/小时巡航速度和和140公里/小时的最高水平飞行速度，升限为13,123 英尺（4,000米）。

 

The type’s primary missions include maritime wide-area motion imagery (WAMI) and ship identification/acquisition. CHRDI explained that the AR-500B had been optimised to address the challenges of shipboard operations and featured several modifications to the baseline model.
