The YLC-20 is a passive surveillance radar system similar to the VERA-E system developed by ERA of the Czech Republic. Based on the “Time Difference of Arrival Principle”, the system locates the source of signal position in two or three dimensions by solving for the mathematical intersection of multiple hyperbolas based on the Time Difference Of Arrival (TDOA) between the signal reception at multiple sensors. Using two hyperbolas (three receivers) the system can obtain 2D target position, while using at minimum three hyperboloids (four receivers) the system can achieve full 3D target locating. Higher accuracy can be achieved by using more receivers.

The VERA-E system was originally developed as an electronic intelligence (ELINT) system for locating enemy electronic sensors. However, it was later noted that the system can be effectively used to detect stealth aircraft, which conventional radar systems are unable to detect. China ordered six VERA-E systems from the Czech Republic worth US$55 million in 2004 but the deal was reportedly cancelled due to the objection of the U.S. government.

VERA-E系统最初发展当做一种电子情报(ELINT)系统用于定位敌人电子传感器。然而,它之后出名是系统能有效地用来发现隐形飞机,传统雷达系统不能够发现。中国在2004年从捷克订购了价值五千五百万美元的六套VERA-E系统,但是交易据传闻由于美国政府的反对被取消。

During the 5th China International Electronic Exhibition (CIDEX) held in Beijing in April 2006, 14th Institute of China Electronic Technology Corporation (CETC) revealed its YLC-20 two-station passive surveillance radar system, which appears to be similar to the VERA-E. It is not known whether the YLC-20 has any connection to the VERA-E technology.

1、概述。

YLC-20雷达是利用测向和时差定位技术进行目标检测,定位和识别的无源雷达。其主要作战对象包括:

A)含有源雷达的空中目标,包括战斗机,空中预警机,无人机等;
B)含有源雷达的地面目标,包括地基预警雷达,地基防空雷达,地面火控雷达等;
C)含有源雷达的各种舰船;
D)具有信号辐射的其他通讯设备

2、关键特点。

隐蔽性好:由于系统采用无源体制,自身不对外辐射电磁波,不易被敌方侦察。具有抗ARM能力。
探测距离远:系统利用对流层散射特性,具有超视距监视的能力。
抗干扰能力强:系统可以在复杂电子环境下工作。
机动性好:系统采用车载运输方式,运用液压自动调平,自动寻北,天线电
动升降等技术,可在1小时内完成系统架撤,实现快速转移。
工作频带宽:系统采用分频段天馈系统和分频段接收机满足频率范围为0。38-12GHZ的要求。
信号适应能力强:系统探测非合作信号,能适应各种信号形式,包括各种雷达信号,通讯信号,干扰信号等。
定位精度高:采用高精度的测量技术及通讯传输技术,实现了目标的精确定位。
具有目标识别能力:在获得目标位置信息的同时,可得到目标载频,信号形式等情报信息,通过自身数据库实现对辐射源及辐射源平台的识别。
